SHARED SPACE
Auckland Council

Creative Direction - Rawstorne Studio
The 'Shared Space' scheme by Auckland Council is about creating pedestrian friendly destinations in the cities CBD. Shared spaces involve removing the traditional distinction between footpath and road so that vehicles and pedestrians can share the space.

Rawstorne studio was commissioned by SPUR agency to concept and produce the launch of this scheme. By creating a mix of brightly coloured 2d objects - representing cars, pedestrians, cyclists and motorbikes and installing them early one morning into the first allocated 'Shared Space' street, we created a pop-up environment that immediately informed all users as to the imminent change in the streets usage.

The scheme proved to be highly successful and popular with businesses and the public.
